A Bit Late…
Firstly I’ll start off with wishing everyone a happy new years. Yes I’m a week late but in the scheme of things who really cares.
Anyway the first thing that has caught my attention is the news that McDonalds will be offering free WiFi in basically all their stores around Australia (http://www.freewifi.com.au/listing_mcdonalds_summary.php?rowOffset=1&listing_type=paid&name=mcdonald). IMHO that totally kicks arse and will make life easier and cheeper whenever I need to access something on the net via my phone or laptop so three cheers to that.
Moving on Windows 7 seems to be going the right way. It’s running as smooth as one could imagine on my laptop despite the overly long process that was getting the system to recognise the cd. Seems for whatever reason either the media or burning app weren’t setting the disc up to be bootable by my laptop. Anyway I eventually got things going and I must say I’m quite impressed with the OS so far and it seems a very nice yet logical progression from Windows Vista. The new Super Bar will take getting used to as will a few other things but overall it seems quite good. Worth grabbing a copy.
In regards to films I’m going to say Diary of the Dead is the best film I have seen all year where The Day The World Stood Still is the worst. I’ve only seen two movies but any frankly it wouldn’t take much to beat TDTWSS given it was so absolutely crap. Ohh and game of 2008 goes to Fallout 3, awesome game and I can’t wait for the expansion for that which is due any week now.
Onto stuff outside of the tv or computer stratosphere work has been good if not a bit busy since I began full time just recently. I just did my first Saturday shift yesterday if thats any indication as to how busy things have been but I’m not too fussed as my Coast holiday starts in a fort night and I’m really looking forward to that. Unfortunately I have that one course at uni to finish but It seems it’ll cost me 4 hours max a week in terms of work time. Not ideal but I’ll see what I can do. Hopefully I can skip the lectures completely.
Anyway I’m off to play Far Cry 2.
Coast Trip 07
Well I got back from the coast today and I must say overall it was a blast. Spent four nights there, did some swimming saw some scenery played some cards and bought a nine inch nails ticket. basically everything a man needs besides slurpie which was the one big ommision. Ohh and the fact noone came on the Saturday and Alex never got back to us but really I’m not too fussed in the end and I am quite pleased with how it went, enough so that I have already contemplated doing it again be it over the mid year break or next Christmas.
But no it was quite enjoyable and the apartment was quite lovely if minimalistic. Three bedrooms was a real luxury after the cramped mess that schoolies was and we all got a bed. I also poured my first cock sucking cowboy having always just relied on others to do it and hell thats as easy as piss. Hell even the scramble eggs was my 1st but thats only because I had to abort my omelette’s due to the poor heating element not cooking the egg fast enough for me to be able to flip it and the pan sticking to the egg too much. Besides that nothing happened out of the ordinary, David spent an hour alone next to two half naked girls as everyone else swam and we skipped Q1 when David quoted the wrong prices for admission (we would have gone had he quoted the real price which we found the following day).
Anyway thanks to those that came, it was a lot of fun. All thats left now is uni and dealing with the fact that I’ve got some medical problem with my right ear that developed at the coast. I’ll be going to the doctor tomorrow morning to have it looked at but I’m guessing its juts blocked with ear wax or worst case scenario is it has developed some form of infection. We will see but the lack of pain and ability to hear not too badly leads me to believe the ear drum itself isn’t the issue. Or heres hoping. For those out of the loop I’ve had somewhat trouble hearing the past three days with my right ear being at about 50% or so depending. I have a constant ringing in that ear similar to when you come home from a concert with the speakers up too loud. I think thats the best way to describe it. My ear doesnt hurt but the constant ringing does concern me. I can deal with it but from a health perspective its rather dodgy.
W00T bday
Well two days ago I turned 21 for the first time. Didn’t actually do anything as I’ve instead organised a four day weekend at the coast for the last week of the holidays. Can’t wait. Staying at a three bedroom, 6 person, apartment not far off cavil with 4 of the other guys and about 10 or so ppl have said theyd like to come visit at varying points. Anyway should really be a blast.
BTW Anantha wins yet again…being the first non family member to give me a present. This comes after just about 8 days after giving David the nicest card. Anantha raises charisma + 2.
